The Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW) is the democratic voice of students that engages the campus community through programming, services, and advocacy. The ASUW strives to enrich student life and develop future leaders. Throughout my UW experience, I've been involved in the ASUW since the moment I got on campus. I began as a volunteer then an intern, and later, was granted employment as an entity director my final two years, managing the experiences of my own volunteers and interns. The ASUW has helped me immensely in my leadership and career development, influencing my path and understandings of the workplace.
Office of Outreach & Involvement Director
2020-2021
Due to a virtual year, I have no images of OOI

As the Director for the Office of Outreach & Involvement (OOI), I designed and consulted on the outreach plans of 24 entities. I worked to make these plans strategic and diverse, increasing overall stakeholder engagement by 68%. In this role I’ve coordinated and led trainings of over 300 volunteers and 63 employees on Outreach & Involvement policy expectations and procedures. Throughout the year, I worked with other employees to co-develop these policies and other programs to attract, retain, and promote a diverse community of employees and students for the organization. Managing the experiences of over 300 individuals has been extremely eye opening and grew my skills in mentorship and conflict management among individuals and entities. To guide future outreach initiatives once I am no longer in the role, I developed a comprehensive database of constituent demographics and created mapping of target communities to reach.
The highlight of OOI was not only getting to work with every individual in the Association, but building community with my team consisting of an Assistant Director and two interns. I’m grateful for my experience; it was a wonderful way to end my time in the ASUW! |

When I served as the Director for the Womxn’s Action Commission, I organized and advocated as the voice for women and other gender-minoritized individuals on campus—making up 54.5% of the UW population, 25,000 students—through educational workshops and programming on intersectional identity workshops. In the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity (OMA&D) Student Advisory Board, I liaisoned to VP of OMA&D, Rickey Hall, by presenting the intersectional needs and concerns of women. In this role, I managed a team of 5 individuals comprising of an Assistant Director and four interns in addition to various volunteers and being the ASUW liaison for 43 registered student organizations. I supervised a budget of $25,000 total for FY 2019-2020 to conduct programs, adequate outreach efforts, and oversee contracts. With the help of my team, we increased social media following by 168% through accessible media and inclusive outreach both in-person and virtually.
Following the murder of George Floyd, my team and I creating a comprehensive Black Lives Matter Resource List for all folks at the university including courses to register for, readings, how to organize safely, email templates for advocacy, and organizations to donate to. This guide was shared on social media over 1000x and across university departments. These efforts led my entity to be recognized by the UW Ethnic Cultural Center as a recommended safe space for all students of color at the UW. These efforts paired with the reimagining of a traditional event, The Monologues (formerly known as The Vagina Monologues), into a zine to showcase the work of women and other gender-minoritized individuals, led myself and my entity to receive various accolades at the end of the 2019-2020 academic year including Employee of the Year, Innovation of the Year, and Entity of the Year.
